Both the reading passage and the lecture discuss online survey research. However, the lecture casts doubt on the reading passage's idea that online survey research is advantageous.

This is because in order to higherimprove the low participation in the survey, researchers often have to either offer payments by giving out prizes randomly or provide incentives such as free coupons to all the participants.
For these reasons, the lecturer claims that the demerits outweigh the merits of online research survey.
