▶ Your Answer :
An intriguing topic of discussion at hand
is whether universities and high schools should teach students about specific careers and fields instead of
general subjects. The answer to this question can vary greatly depending on
individual perspectives. Thus, the jury may still be out, as far as I
concerned, I disagree with the statement. In this essay, I will present two
reasons supporting my standpoint as follows.
First of all, students are able to obtain
opportunities to widen perspectives and to choose a specific subects that they
want to major in after learning various kinds of general subjects. This is
attributed to the reason that the individual preference to the subjects they
like can change while students study. Moreover, it is hard for students to find
their aptitude. According to a recent report by the National Research Center of
Korea, 30% of the undergraduate students regret their major choice decided
before they become senior. So, most schools make a double major system to support
this kind of students. This indicates that students should have a right to study
various intriguing subjects. In the process, they can choose their major
subject more carefully. In this regard, schools have to give students chances
to experience a wide range of disciplines
Also, most students today are apt to want
to study practical academic subjects such as economics, management and
statistics. The underlying cause lies in the fact that many firms prefer a
university graduate who is major in such subjects. However, this trend can
cause an undesirable outcome. In case of that most of the students insist on
only practical academic subjects, not regarding humanities like history and
ethics as important, which triggers crimes. It’s because people overlook the significance
of moral education. This is why people cannot tell what right behavior is from
what wrong behavior is. Students are able to know which behavior against public
order and establish one’s identity by learning humanities. In this sense,
students are prevented from doing improper conducts by studying general
subjects.
In conclusion, I strongly argue for my
standpoint on account of the two reasons mentioned above. Once again, although
the verdict may still be out, I personally believe that two of my rationales
above are sufficiently convincing enough to represent the viewpoints of a
majority of people who are in favor of my claim. |
