it is better to be leader of a group rather than a member of a group. |
Some people say that it is better to be a member of a group than being a leader. However, I believe that being a leader of a group has more advantages than being a member. People can not only develop the ability of leadership but also can boost one's self confidence.
First, self-confidence can be developed by being a leader because a leader has many responsibilities. A leader has to be responsible in anyways and have to be the one who always speaks out first. My friend for instance was a leader of a social science group and told me that first the group was not very organized because she did not do her role very well. However, she came to the thought that without the leader who always have to speak out first, the group could not do anything. The decision that a group had to make was difficult since the members had various opinions which she realized that there needs to be a person who could organize and come forward to make the decisions. Hence, being a leader can boost one's confidence for the leader always have to be the one to step forward.
Last but not least, being a leader of a group can learn more because the leader have to know basically everything. Based on my experience, I was a leader of English study group which I had to take care of the members, the curriculum of the textbooks, rules that we have to follow and so forth. I had to organize the hand outs of the subjects and since the members of the group asked me a lot of questions about English I had to know everything about the part we were learning. During the study, I came to realize that I have gained a lot of knowledge about not only in vocabularies but also the part that I was weak. Thus, becoming a leader can give lots of benefits in a way of learning.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that being a leader far outweighs the advantage of being a member. First, people can boost their ability of being a leader. Also, one can enhance their self confidence. |
