For students, homework assignment is commonly regarded as bothersome and unnecessary tasks. Although many teachers actually to try hand out daily homework for students, most of the students only complain about it and do not try to make great efforts whatsoever. However, their idea is wrong because doing daily homework is extremely vital and beneficial for students. It not only provides students with opportunities to spend more time on studying but also ensures every student to understand all materials they handled in classes.
In this high-technology based society, there are too many elements which teenagers find very entertaining other than studying. With the advent of computer, teenagers started to spend most of their time playing video games and surfing on the internet. The impact of technological improvement is so great that it can easily attract teenagers’ attentions and teens actually do fall into these in a very short time. They often put entertainment their top priority, and it causes them not to concentrate on learning and studying. That is why we regard students spending more time on independent studying as the most vital issue. Even a student who considers academic subjects tedious will try to work on it if there is homework assigned by teachers. I concede that there is actually some pressure from teachers; however, it is still better than not to study anything at all.
Moreover, doing daily homework supports students to perfectly understand about materials they go though during the class time. A student might need an extra practice on materials or might have some parts where s/he does not understand thoroughly. This can be reinforced by doing homework related to the specific subject that the student is having trouble with. As we can learn from a famous idiom ‘practice makes perfect’, we have to keep on practicing in order to learn something 100% right. It is an obvious fact that students who study hard and fully understand get better scores on exams than students who do not. This slight change is what triggers the gap between an honor student and a backward student.
To consider homework as a pressure and a compulsory labor is wrong way of thinking because doing homework benefits student in so many various ways. For teenagers who have not matured enough yet, teachers must try to lead them to the right path. Teenagers are so much vulnerable to false technologies and unwanted information from the internet and it is teachers’ responsibility to make sure to keep students on the right track. This can be done by giving them daily homework and checking them if it is done right. Furthermore, because doing homework gives better understanding on studies, teachers should always give students homework every day. If you have a teacher who gives you tons of homework every day, you would better thank him/her now! |
