It has been controversial whether advertising makes itmes items look much better. Some poeple might argue that advertisements are honest and not deceptive because companies have their own standards of what their products should be like. However, I strongly agree with the statement that advertisements make products look much better than that they really are. This is because advertisements have a tendancy to use sound and image effects to show products them in a favorable way and provide exaggerated exaggerbate informations.
Evidently, effective sounds and images enables products to look be looked better. It is natural that companies would like to make a huge profit and they use these strategies in TV commercials. It is just a way to lure customers to buy their products. sell products better. According to a reasearch conducted by KBS, a public broadcasting in Korea, Korean nations televisions, more than two thirds of surveyed people responded that they have been misled by advertisements and spent money on the goods because of the way they were shown which were showed on the advertisements. However, they were disappointed with the items they bought since the items were not the same as those on the advertisements. Thus, it is likely for people to be lured easily by the visual aid and sound effects used on TV commercials. products which look better on TV commercials than they really are.
Obviously, advertisements tend to focus on advantages of their products. Unintentionlly, weak points of the products can not be discovered and it leads buyers to get goods they would not have bought had they known like to buy without knowing the disadvantages. Natually, advertising would end up making puffery. For example, When I was at college, I was misled by puffery on comsmetic products. The exaggerbated advertisement said that everyone who applied this products was(everyone=singular)were able to have beautiful and bright skin. However, even after a month of steady application, my skin did not change at all. The dramatic change I had expected was overly highlighted in the advertisement. any chages on my face did not occur even I appied this cometics for one months. It was just as well that I sufferd form any trouble on my face but the cosmetic advertisement were litte bit deceptive for me. In this sense, advertisements are likely to provide exaggerated information for customers. (이 광고를 보고 그 화장품이 불티나게 팔렸다는 말을 쓰면 더 효과있을 것 같아요!)
To sum up, most products are made to seem much better by advertisements. This is because advertising use special effects such as sounds and images and focus on good points of their products.
