I agree with that television and movies have a negative effects over positive effects on young people's behavior. Eventhough there are many educational TV programs and documentaries, they are still uneducational. This is because, young people can be influenced by the scenes, and because TV and movies are addictive.
First of all, violent or sesational scenes can increase imitative crimes by teenagers. To be specific, the youngs can't distinguish virtual life and real life. It means that young people usually can't tell the fantasy from the reality. So when teenage people watch suggestive or violent scenes from the TV or movies, they just mimic the action which they watched. For example, a movie named, 'the event of invaded gas station' had huge infulence to the young people. After the movie released, the teenage crime had soared about 15%. It included arson, shop-lifting and theft. Movies and television can bear the copycat crime by teenagers.
In addition, TV and movies is addictive to young people. If children or young students are addicted by TV and movies, they can't do their daily schedules and their health will be worse in both mentally and physically ways. For example, my friend Su-jin was very active in her class and showed powerful energy in every part of life. She enjoyed outdoor activity and even she led the class. However, she became addicted to TV, and then she didn't show any interest in academic works in the class. It was no surprise that she failed to enter the college she wanted to go.
To sum up, the brutality or sexually suggestive of TV and movies can be detrimental to young people. Also, TV and movies can confuse teenagers and can lead them to do imitate the scenes. To conclude, TV and movies are harmful to young students. |
