An intriguing topic of discussion at hands
is whether students are influenced more by their friends that by their
teachers. The answer to this question can vary greatly depending on individual
perspectives. Thus, the jury may still be out, but as far as I am concerned, I
agree with the statement, in this essay, I will present two reasons supporting
my standpoint as follows.
First of all, In Korea, the status of teachers is declining significantly. This is because most
teachers don’t keep up with the mindset of younger generation. Although strict
confucian etiquette-conscious is widespread in education, students in their
teens want to get thought and their own dignithy respected from teachers. But,
no matter how reasonable it is, most of the teachers do not want to accept
their opinions. According to the recent report by the National Research Centher
of Korea, students today distrust their teachers who punish students because of
low grades on exam. In other words, only having a tendency to emphasize test
scores, teachers do not take into accuount the characteristics of individuals. In
this sense, it is evident that students doubt the qualty of their teachers, it
followed that the impacts teachers bestow on students are small.
Also, most students spend a large amount of time with their friends
than teachers. The underlying cause lies in the fact that teachers do not have enough time to stay with students after school because of the workload
they should handle. Take my high school years as illustration.
When I am a boy scout member, I
participated in a competitive exhibition. After I teamed up with friends and
teachers, we strived for winning a competition. During the preparation, even
though teachers sometimes gave us advices, frankly, that information was not
useful. Though it was not easy to make a creative invention, we did our best
and achieved superior results. With out the aid from my friends, I would have
missed a chance to acquire fine outcomes. Since that time, whenever I have spare
time, I meet them regularly.
In conclusion, I
strongly argue for my standpoint on account of the two reasons mentioned above.
Once again, although the verdict may still be out, I personally believe that
two of my rationales above are sufficiently convincing enough to represent the
viewpoints of a majority of people who are in favor of my claim. |
