Nowadays, there are decreasing interactions within the neighbours compared to the past. The reasons may be due to the self-centred qualities of poeple and a tendency of people becoming dispassionate towards the nighbours. Hence, the qualities of a good neighbour can be completely opposite to those above.
To begin with, I have loved the saying "sharing is caring" since I was in a primary school. Sharing can be a real hard action due to the unlimitied greed that humansnaturally posses . The good neighbour means that they are capable of accompolishing the act of sharing without any hesitation. To take a personal experience, my next door lady who was only living with her pets, two cats and a dog, always knocked on our door for different news or presents everyday. Anytime without any specific reasons or wishing any feedbacks, she would give us a home-made chocoalte cake that she baked, a beuatiful tubular flowers from her garden that are carefully planted in a pot and even a small fluffy puppy which her dog breed. Our family always appreciated her unconditional presents and have developed a close relationship to the point we spend particular days, such as birthdays, together and help each other out when facing the adversities.
Moreover, the good neighbour should acknowledge the basic manners and courtesies towards each other. This can be simply achieved by considering the next door once more in case they feel disturbed or discontent. However, there are still endless complaints when living in an apartment due to the inconsiderate people playing the piano or other instruments at night, running around the aisle when everybody is asleep and throwing a party over the night. These behaviours are certainly not categorised as being the good neighbour.
To sum up, being the good neighbour is not a difficult concept as long as you are able to put yourself in other people's shoes. Sharing small but sweet objects and following basic rules can result in a happy harmony with the nighbours. |
