Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Countries should not isolate themselves from the world but instead engage other countries.
In my opinion countries should co-operate with each other than isolate themselves. This can be justified by asserting that there are advantages to a country whilst it works with other countries.
Firstly, today, the technology has made an exceptional contribution in connecting different countries across the world. The most significant wonder achieved by the new technology though, is outsourcing, which enables people to engage in jobs even in a company situated in another country. Many large companies now outsource jobs such as call centre services, e-mail services, and payroll. Outsourcing is effective in solving unemployment as well as other local problems such as small variety of jobs etc, because it brings more jobs into the country.
Additionally, international trade is valuable to a country and it could only be made possible if two or more countries are involved. Without trade, a country’s economy will deteriorate. Means of communication and transportation have now developed enormously even in some of the “Less economically developed countries,” which means that goods can be exchanged globally more efficiently. Thus, a country can trade goods that are locally abundant to fill the gaps in their market. Here, co-operation with other countries is essential and trading would prosper the country’s economy.
Thirdly, there is much information available in the world nowadays. Without working with other countries, certain countries would be unaware of some of the information which would halt them from developing. For example, the method of vaccinating against cow pox by injecting cow pus was dispersed by Lady Montagu in
In conclusion, countries must work side by side rather than isolate themselves. Modern development in technology, transport and communication has already ensured that this happens regularly. Therefore, Co-operation can benefit a country enormously in terms of trading, sharing information and technology.
