Most of the people who just go out into society try to seek decent
jobs so that they could be stabilized in terms of money and life. Thus, some people believe, once they were
being employed, their job should be assured over their whole working lives.
However, I think guaranteed work is not appropriate, as it decreases individuals’
competitiveness as well as have a negative effect on company when it comes to
productivity. First and foremost, holding
their job position during their entire life reduces their competitiveness in
the workplace. In other words, if they come to think that they are guaranteed
work, they tend not to grab a chance to make a progress or develop their
abilities. They are going to get stuck in their status and be accustomed to
what they are doing. We cannot expect any progress in this circumstance, which
is seemingly unhealthy to employees themselves. For instance, my uncle has
worked for 20 years repeating similar tasks over and over again. He does not
have interest in his work anymore so his competitiveness has been diminished.
This example vividly shows how inefficient it is to work only one position. Secondly, when it comes to
companies, it easily leads companies lose their productivity. Guaranteeing
one’s job could trigger no more circulation in the company even though some
employees’ ability is incredibly bad. Namely, company is necessary to elevate
their productivity to their best ability but guaranteeing one’s job breaks down
to have its opportunity. This is ineffective not only to the companies but to
society as a whole. According to an article in Times magazine, circulating
their employees enable company to run more actively and productively. We should
not neglect the significant outcomes due to fixed employees. All in all, in terms of
individual and company, employees should not be guaranteed their work for their
entire working life, regardless of their ability. It is obvious that people of
greater ability should be able to strive to move forward, instead of being
blocked by incapable people who stay in higher positions. |
