Nowadays, there are some arguments that whether big cities are good place to bring up children or not. Some people claim that because big cities are so complex and has high crime rate, big cities is not proper to bring up children. However, other people claim rural area has few education facilities, and it can make children isolate from modern society. In my opinion, I agree with the later idea for these reasons.
First, big cities can provide more chance to receive better quality education than rural area. Many academies or honor schools are usually located in urban areas, because there are far more people, who is their potential consumers, than rural areas. Furthermore, parents usually prefer to live in the place which can provide high-quality education for their children, so they tend to move to urban area. This repetitive movement has enhanced the density of education facilities in urban area. As a result, there are almost all education facilities in big cities. For these reasons, bringing up children in big cities can provide more effective environment for children to study. For example, when I was a high school student, I met a friend who had moved from rural area. According to the friend, he had studied well in previous school. However, in our school, he not only didn’t study well, but also was participated in inferior group. This fact show us how different the level of education between countryside and big cities.
Second, bringing up children in big cities can provide more chance to make friends. Because of development of much of useful equipment, people became inevitable to interact with each others. Therefore, in modern society, personal relationship is one of the most important factors. As a result, people are required to be skilled to get along with others. However, because of few people in rural area, the children who live in countryside cannot provide enough chance to learn about how to get along with others. In my case, when I was a little boy, I lived in a small country. At that time, I had a very few friends, who has been my friend since when I was born, because there are a few people. As a result, when I moved to a city, which now I’m living in, I didn’t know how to get along with others because I had never become friends with others, except the friends. It was really frustrating problem. Eventually, though I overcame the problem, I had to endure painstaking processes.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that bringing up children in rural area has many benefits. However, for high-quality education and improvement of social relationship, I strongly believe that children should be brought up in big cities. So to speak, big cities can provide more chance to children to grow as more valuable people. |
