Since existence of human beings, there have been many complains. Some complains were developed as a conflict, and other complains were solved efficiently and peacefully. In this totally opposed process, people gradually prefer to solve complains efficiently and peacefully. However, there are some arguement which method is more efficient to figure out complain. While some people claim explain problems in person is more efficient and effective, others prefer to write their opinion to complain. In my opinion, writing is more effective and less likely to make troble. In this essay, I'll present two specific reasons to support my opinion.
First, complaining in person can occur misunderstanding. Most of people usually speak improvisely, so their words are more likely to unprepared. Therefore, sometimes, unprepared speaking is felt as totally different meaning, like aggression rather than mere complain. In this progress, misunderstanding can become conflicts which nobody want to make. Also, these conflicts usually become argument, and then the original complain become harder to solve. For example, when I was a high school student, my teacher scold me about dozing many in his class. One of those days, he told me that I am a foolish. The reason why he told me about it was just scolding and stimulating me, but I couldn't understand exactly, and I was frustrated and protested. Like this, speaking cannot prepared, and necessary explaining, which help to understand, is likely to absent.
Second, people usually feel comfortable when they transfer their opinion through writing. We can easily find the fact which people are usually strained when they are complaining because complain is not favorable topic. Furthermore, when people are strained, they cannot express their opinion effciently. However, in writing, people don't need to concern about tension because there is nobody except them. Therefore, they can express their opinion efficiently and effectively with enough extra explaination. It can make reader convenient too because they are understand the opinion easily. For example, when I was freshman, I really need a cellphone. However, my father strongly refused because he though it is unnecessary for me. I try to persuade him in person, but I had some fear when I usually had a conversation with him, the conversation was not efficient. After some ineffective arguement and conversation, I decided to write a letter to my father about the necessity of cellphone with very reasonable reasons, which I didn't tell before. Eventually, my father allowed me to buy a cellphone and said my letter moved his mind.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that speaking in person is faster and comfortable. However, writing letter allows us persuade other more effectively and can reduce misunderstanding. As a result of these reasons, I prefer to write when I should complain about some problem. |
