The lecture discusses a few drawbacks of group studying. This contradicts the reading passage’s main point that group studying is beneficial in many ways.
To begin with, the lecturer states that group studying often discourages students to from study ing because some students simply do not do the right assignment or do it very clumsily. In addition, students who do not show up to a meeting depresses the group moral. This refutes the reading passage’s claim that group studying is encouraging because it makes students who are afraid of certain subjects study harder and be motivated.
On top of that, the lecturer points out that group studying is unfair because academically stronger students tend to carry more workload than those of academically weaker students do. Majority of the group members tend to rely on only the few strong students in their group. The reading passage, however, disagrees to this by stating that group studying is supportive because students cooperate together; they pass information to one another and teach one another.
Finally, the lecturer mentions that much time is wasted with group studying. Smarter students have to review and study easier concepts because there are a few students who are behind. Also, students often chat while studying time, and ultimately, group studying time degenerates to group socializing time. The reading passage, however, argues that group studying can save much time because students can share tasks and gather up the information later when each is done with his their part.

We often see people on television those who win lucrative lotteries. When we hear the winners’ interviews, ten to nine say that they never expected to win the lotteries. Also, it is proven statistically that only less than 0.0001% of people have chance of winning the first place in lotteries. Accordingly, only by an infinitesimal possibility will luck lead you to success. Instead, working hard would lead you to success more often than luck. Therefore, hard working is a key factor to success.

To begin with, certain success is only reproached by hard work. When you take a look at the famous sports players, an incredible amount of effort was made by them behind. The best example of this would be the Korean soccer hero Ji Sung Park. Park is now the icon for of Korean soccer and plays for the world’s most famous soccer club Manchester United. However, Park tried more than anyone else to get to this position. When he was in high school, he was not welcomed by any soccer team because his physicality was lacking compared to other players. His height was under 170 centimeters and his weight was approximately 50 kilograms. To overcome this, Park and his father explored everywhere in Korea to get food that would help Park get bigger and stronger. After a year, he became a lot stronger and was scouted by the Korean national olympics soccer team. In addition to this, after training was over, Park practiced shooting, passing, and dribbling on his own. Finally, in the year of 2005, Sir Alex Furgerson, the coach of Manchester United, scouted him. If it were not for Park’s humongous effort, Park would not have been where he is today.
On top of that, more people success by working hard than simply borrowing the power of luck. When we look at the world, the number of people who is trying very hard to success outweighs the number of people who is sitting down, waiting for luck to come in. To illustrate, when we look at the high schoolers, most of them put their full effort to get into a better college. And not surprisingly, about 90 percents of students of a good college are accepted because they had prepared more than anyone. Of course, some students are accepted to a good college because they are lucky. Their parents are perhaps famous politicians. However, as time passes, it is likely that they will flunk out because they find the studies at the college too difficult.
In summary, without any doubt, hard work is a key to success rather than luck because certain goals can be only made by effort, and simply by looking at the people around us, we know that the majority of people who success are those who put their full effort. Therefore, those who buy lotteries regularly in the nil hope of success should work hard in for the greater hope of success.
