Through life time, we have been granted a myriad of work forcing us to do regardless of our willingness. However. some people lay aside their work to do and forge their life enjoyment. Other people willingly sacrifice their life time to complete what they have to do on account of achieving their ultimate goal they have dreamed of or responsibilities for what they are. I believe that these days people give more weight to spending much time on what they like to do. This is mainly because individualism has great impact on our life and furthermore, social welfare has been strikingly developed in the western countries.
To begin with, individualism, in which people promote each individual's desire and independence, has emerged in the present society. This social institution causes people to prioritize their happiness over anything else in their life. On the other hand, the social value of the past, such as religious belief or socially conservative atmosphere, deterred people from carrying on what they truly desired and compelled them to keep socially given duty. However, individualism paves the way for people doing whatever they like to do because of the emancipation of the social bias rooted in the previous generation. Without no doubt, this social condition enables people to liberate their burden and indulge in their preferred things.
On top of that, the advanced social welfare in the developed countries definitely contributes to people doing what they like to do. This is because most of the government in the developed countries warrants people's basic needs, which are, partly different from countries to countries, subsidized fund, free education and public housing. These social conditions offered by the government makes these days people feel that their general responsibilities to struggle for their life is unnecessary and dispensable. Futhermore, they spend more time to do what they are interested in. In this respect, the developed social welfare which basically guarantees people's basic needs from their first born, makes their given tasks socially or personally unessential to do.
Taking these things into account, I strongly believe that these days people do not pay too much attention to what they have to do, instead they find their life enjoyable and sanguine by doing the things they want to do. This is largely because the present socal value, individualism, have been disseminated and moreover, the developed social welfare has a immense effect on people's thought, which is they can live without doing their given work.
