It is often said that teachers should always give homework to students. Some people might agree with this statement because assignments encourage students to focus on their studies. However, in my opinion, too much homework has disadvantages for students. There are a number of reasons why I feel this way, but to make matters simple, I will shorten my discussion to two arguments. Firstly, it might decrease students’ learning efficiency. Secondly, it could be an impediment for students to pursue diverse activities.
To begin with, all the students do their homework by themselves. This is due to the fact that teachers cannot check all the assignments one-by-one. One of the best examples is my best friend Song Bilong. Last month, my math teacher required us to submit a report on solving a series of Calculus problems. I did my homework by myself but Song didn't do it and asked me to lend my paper to submit his homework. Although I didn't feel great, I gave my paper to him because he was my best friend. As a result, he failed the final exam since he had never studied at all.
In addition, everyday homework discourages students from extracurricular activities such as playing soccer and watching movies. This is because students might lack time to enjoy their hobbies. For example, last semester, I had spent hard time doing my assignments so I had never played soccer which was my favorite hobby. I felt like I am a study machine because all I had done is only to study for submitting assignments. If it had not been for too much homework, I would have enjoyed various activities including playing soccer.
All things considered, everyday homework has a negative influence on students. Not only can it reduce their learning efficiency but also it can prevent students from their leisure activities. The importance of these disadvantages cannot be underestimated to students’ happy campus life.
