“I want to enjoy my life, not be stuck at this company eternally.” This is quote from one of the movies I favor. In my perspective, however, this actor is immature and neglecting the reality. Companies are not hiring new workers in today’s chaos and there is a short-cut to succeed in life by pursuing one job.
People prefer stable jobs at this economic downturn. Inflation continues to bring up the prices of consumer products and has weakened the purchase power of consumers. Worse, unemployment has been higher than ever, and thus people are suffering from the huge economic crisis we are facing today. At this moment when people are afraid of getting laid off, they cannot assure themselves to find new jobs. Generally, people take it as gratitude to even have a job. To elaborate, a company in Korea has been suffering greatly by the surge in oil costs that in a board meeting, they decided to cut-off 80 employees. Employees, however, implored the company to give a second thought on their decision. They insisted that they will commit their entire lives for company to prosper. No employees wished to shift their jobs.
Pursuing in one’s careers in one company facilitates success. Interviews and exams to prepare, due the expiration of the term, only hinder people to quickly start their new career. Moreover, new-starters only suffer because they be accustomed to new environments and start over their relationship with co-workers. Contrary to the new job-seekers, employees who have committed their life in one company do not need to repeat difficult and time consuming tasks. Instead, they have greater opportunities to promote faster in their company by showing great effort and earning trust from higher officials, whom they have met for long periods. For instance, my neighbor lacks endurance that he cannot stay in one job. Thus he moves from one place to another and remains as an unimportant employee at all times. However, his friend has been persistent in working at a company for 10 years, and now serves as one of the most crucial leaders in the company.
Staying in the same company for entire lives is a wise decision. Today, new jobs are extremely difficult to find and people must not give up the great opportunity of success by sticking to one job. |
