I disagree with the statement that students should be required to take classes at least for 11 months. I strongly believe that if students study for 11 months, they can neither achieve their academic goals nor find their hidden talents and interests.
First of all, taking a proper break enables students to attain academic success. In these days, students are bound and driven by hectic schedule. As a result, they often feel themselves enervated with overwhelming workload. Thus, I claim that students need an appropriate break time to recharge during vacation. Take my case as an example; during my university years, I put all of my effort into earning good grades, at the expense of my vacation. Before long, I found myself exhausted from long-term study. As a result, it has a negative effect on my academic performance. Especially, I often daydreamed during classes and sometimes skip the classes for a break. Eventually, I failed to earn good grades, and even it was lower records than last one. As my experience illustrates, if students are forced to study without having enough break time, they are not to maintain their academic ability.
In addition, it is not important for students to only study for their future career. Some people say that study is a good way to develop students’ ability. However, I think that finding their talents and interests is as important as study well. Thus, students should be encouraged to hone their talents and interests during break time. According to the study by Korean National Research Center, 65 percent of teachers answered that they have recommended students to partake special development program for improving students’ hidden ability during vacation. Based on the study, students, who take a keen interested in soccer, participate soccer camp to enhance their talents during break time. Also, some students, who are interested in mathematics, take part in mathematic study program holding elite university. Therefore, I maintain that spending most of their time might deprive students from chance to develop their talents and interests.
In conclusion, some people argue that it is a serious problem for students to lack study time. However, today’s students are enough overwhelmed with heavy workload, and finding their talents and interests is as essential as a lot of study time. Therefore, I claim that students are not compel to take classes at least for 11 months. |
