It seems like that life is all about money and the way we use it - the quality of life is often determined by these two factors. Some are too impatient in dealing with money while others are referred to as too miserly. In my point of view, however, saving money for the future is always desirable; Just in case of emergency and for the sense of security.
Above all, one must always possess somewhat substantial amount of money because no one can predict what is going to happen later on. We regularly encounter unforeseen events - such as car accidents, flu, relative's marriage or even Gucci bags we run across on the street - that render us to use money. However, if we recklessly use up all the money as we earn it, we cannot be financially prepared for such happenings. For example, one famous Korean celebrity could not afford her mother's sudden death and the funeral because she had squandered her fortune away to buy luxurious houses and the BMWs. Everyone was in shock to hear this piece of news because she recently earned a tremendous amount of money with her latest film that was very much successful in Korea. She was so devastated and sorry for her mother that she decided to engage herself in illegal drug transactions. Now, she is imprisoned. This shows how too often we underestimate cost of sudden, disastrous and unwanted futures. In advance we must save money, which can assist us during the rainy days.
What's more, accumulating money gives us a feeling of accomplishment and happiness that using money indiscreetly cannot offer. When we spend money to meet our spontaneous wants, the satisfaction is, most generally, very short-lasting. Yet if we decide to save , for example, 30 percent of the monthly income for 10 years, we gain sense of security that lasts longer and grant us comfort, relief and pride in ourselves. Such feeling does not come from purchasing goods immediately because it is a result of our continuous efforts and patience. As a matter of fact, no shoes, bags, electric devices or anything could make me feel more comfortable and assured than when I saved 500-dollar in my bank account. I used to buy things right away when my parents gave me pocket money. However, I no longer do that. I now enjoy a new habit of saving money for some time in the future just for the good feeling it provides. As such, when one restrains himself from using money right away, he will be able to have confidence and pride that cannot be compared to the transitory ecstasy coming from imprudent purchases.
In conclusion, it is better to save money than to use it because it guarantees us a more secure, mentally prosperous life. Enjoying the moment with money we have may sound rational and romantic. However, in reality, it is just another luxurious extravagance for us who have to restlessly worry for the future. | |
