▶ Your Answer:
In the past, mainly material goods such as gold, estate and skyscrapers were considered as national properties. However, with the development of the society and changes in people's perception, intangible assets are rapidly growing as sources that strengthen the status of the nation. High status in sports is one of the typical examples. Accordingly, the athletes who contribute to nation's high reputation of sports in the world, should be paid with a considerable sum of money.
To start with, sportsmen lead to the growth of a country. Athletes provide a great chance to introduce a country to foreigners. In case of participating or winning a prize in a global game such as olympics, a number of people around the world get interested to the winner's nation. They incline to go on a research in order to obtain some knowledge about this country. As more and more people initiate the research and finally gain a lot of information, this country becomes largely known to a large number of people. Receiving global attention and recognition from people who share different nationalities and languages is one of the great ways to inhance the status of a country. In addition, a country is obliged to compensate the sportsmen for their missing lives. In order to become a professional athlete, an individual initiates the concentrated training from the early age. As the practice asks for much of time, the person has to spend all of his or her time to undergo a hard course of training. So, usually there is little time to spare time for his own life except for practicing. Due to the lack of personal life, the person do not gain much opportunities to participate in social activities, interact with peers and make memorable experiences. Those missing experiences and memories are the ones which even material goods can not compensate enough. Once the time and tide passes, nothing is able to replace them. A case of a well known figure skater well demonstrates the point. Few months ago, he took part in a talk show to tell the audiences about his life. As a respond, he made an unexpected comment about his youth. He said since he started to learn figure skating at the age of 5, he spent 98 percent of his youth to practice. When he was a student, he could not even participate a school trip of school festival, due to preparation for the figure skating contest. He concluded that he feels sad and regretful when he thinks about his youth. It's because of lack of experiences with his mates. To sum up, the sportsmen are eligible for gaining a sustantial amount of money. It is because they introduce a nation to foreigners. Also, providing money is a means of compensating the athletes for their past life.
