Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. Use specific reasons and details to support your opinion.
Majority believes that people should read only the books that are about real events, real people, and established facts, which are commonly called non-fictions. However, I think that it is important for people to read fictions. This is because people can gain daily wisdoms of life and also because they would learn to be creative.
First of all, we are not stiff, rigid robots without emotions and feelings. Reading non-fictions might be helpful in the aspect that you can get knowledge, but being intelligent is not the only factor that leads you to success. You won’t be successful anyways if you are very understanding and have sympathy for others. Nowadays, it is important to be not only smart academically, but also you should have sense of humor, wit, wisdom, and moods. Fictions or fables are often written to give you lessons, or wisdoms for everyday life. For instance, Aesop’s Fables are well-known for relating human lives to animals’ episodes to give people lessons. Aesop’s fable is not about real events or real people, but it is praised as one of the best books.
Furthermore, reading fictions help you be more creative and logical person. By reading fictions, such as Detectives Literature or Science Fictions, people can develop their abilities to think more logically and sometimes in an abstract, imaginative way. You might think that being abstract is not a good thing at all because it is not related to logic and because abstractness can blur out your point when you write or speak. However, you don’t know how abstractness is connected to logic. Everyone believes that math requires logic. It’s true, but it also requires abstractness and creativeness. For example, when mathematicians study concepts like ‘Infinity’ or ‘Fractal Figures’, they need to be abstract for these because those concepts can’t actually exist or it is hard to imagine what comes next. Also when mathematicians can’t figure out solution for a problem, they need to be creative in order to think from a different point of view. Like this, being creative and abstract would help you be logical and teach you to think about a problem in a new way, and creativeness can be gained by fictions.
To conclude, fictions teach you lessons and wisdoms about everyday life. They can also help you be more creative and able to solve problems easily. Thus, I think that it is important to read fictions rather than non fictions.
