The question as to whether it is benificial to study about other countries from media than to visit those countries is not as straightforward as it might appear at first because it has far reaching implications not only for those people, but also for their life. Accordingly, this issue of studying about foreign countries through some method has been a hotly debated topic for those living in contemporary society. Some people might be in favor of learnig them from reading materials, while others emphasize the oppisite point. I, however, strongly maintain that it is advantageous for people to study other countries from newspapers and magazines. There are so many reasons to support the above statement that I will mainly focus on the two most relevant ones. First, it is hard for student to visit foreign countries becasuse it requires large amount of time and money. In addition, reading materals enable people to understand deeper.
To begin with, the most significant reason for my argument is that it is difficult for people to go abroad. Since there are limitations to visiting other countries. In general, visiting foreign countries tent to cost a lot of money and wate of time. If people visit other countries, they spend the fortune such as plane tickets, souvenir and so on. Evidence of this reason comes from a study done by the Korean National Research Center. According to the study, whether people learn about other countries from media is better or not is deeply related to their academic performace. The research showed that more than 60 percent of students surveyed at several major universities reported that they find it useful to study about foriegn countries from newspapers and megazines. The result of the study revealed that since students are busy doing a heavy load of school work, they can't afford to waste their time. Based on this study, one can conclude that the more students reading about other countries though media, the more they can broaden their knowlege.
The second, but equally important reason for my arguing in this way is that reading gives deeper understanding. Since Journalists are experts, newspapers and magazines contain a great deal of informtion about exotic countries. In most cases, people have natural inclination to maximize their utilites as much as possible. For example, When I was doing assignments about Europe, I read the 'Lonely planet' which is a guide book. By reading it, I could figure out italy culture and environment. There are many places to vist such as small galleries and museums. Therefore, I would be able to widen perspectives.
In conclusion, people learn more about foreign countries by reading printed material not only saving their time and money, but also developing their knowlege. All things considered, because of the reasons mentioned above, I firmly believe that my argument regarding this topic has been clearly and precisely delivered.
