It is debatable that whether Face-to-face communication is more beneficial than telecommunication. Some people agree with the statement above because one can give his or her opinion more efficiently. However, I strongly believe that telecommunication has many advantages over its counterpart, considering sentimental value and convenience.
First of all, telecommunication, especially letters, can remind people of happy memories. Conversation commited by Face-to-face approach cannot be easily recorded every time. In contrast, it is possible for letters to be preserved and people can read letters when they want to think of the time when they received the letters. To take personal experience, the most meaningful gift I have ever received is a letter from my girlfriend. It means a lot to me because my girlfriend gave it to me at the first time we met each other. Whenever I read it, I can feel my girlfriend's love toward me. Thus, letters can be a catalyst to help people keep their precious memories.
On top of that, wherever we are, we can keep in touch with our family or friends by making a phone call or sending a e-mail. With the development of communication technology, it is possible for one to talk with his or her friends who are at the opposite side of the earth. In addition, we can have a video conference with people all over the world spontaneously. For instance, although my best friend is now at Japan for studying, I can still contact him by text messages. He would have been lonely without his telephone. In this sense, telecommunication makes global people communicate more easily.
In conclusion, through telecommunication, we can talk with people all over the world and think about the time when we were happy. It is safe to say that telecommunication has more positive effects on our lives than Face-to-face communication. |
