Not many people can deny the fact that environment would play a critical role on children's growth. Nevertheless, there are different opinions among people regarding whether it is better for children to grow up in the countryside than a big city or not. Some may say that the countryside would have positive effects on children due to experience of nature materials. In my opinion, however, it is clear that people have to put priority on big city in order to raise their children. This essay will show two reasons to support my opinion as follows.
First of all, in an educational aspect, children would be able to get a chance to wide their sight since there are more various facilities and event in a big city than in a countryside. In other words, a big city has more things including some educational materials. For example, if a child living in a rural area goes to the museum which usually locates in a big city, not countryside, he or she will be able to experience more directly and vividly. However, the child usually has to see the material by books or television when he or she studies in countryside. In such a situation, the big city which has useful facilities would provide children with more practical materials than countryside would do. Thus, it is better for children who should experience many things to grow up in a big city.
Second of all, in a social aspect, a big city would be more suitable for children to learn socialization because there are a multitude of people who have different background in a big city. That is, not only do children meet various people, but they also learn how to face the people appropriately. From my own experience, when I was a high school student, I moved to the big city which was very different with my prior hometown and I was a very timid person. However, when I entered the school in big city, I was changed by meeting lots of people and I became more activity. Since there were more people in big city than my hometown, I had to try to get along with them and I also learned how to deal with people. Hence, a big city - which allows children to get opportunity to meet various people would be more appropriate for children's growth.
In sum, a big city would be a better place in terms of children's growth. No other reason in my mind regarding this issue seems to outweigh the positive aspects of growing up children in a big city as I mentioned above. |
