▶ Your Answer :
It is worthy topic to debate about between which one is better between newspaper and television. In spite of opposing viewpoints, I strongly believe that newspapers are more useful to understand the world events. I can list a number of different arguments that I could use to support my position, but I will limit to two of the most significant points that I deem are the most relevent to the topic: Firstly, we can earn political viewpoints by newspaper, and secondly, we can read news articles many times without limit of the time.
The first most convincing reason behind my contention regarding this topic is that newspapers have articles written with personal political ideas. What I mean is in newspaper there are columns containing personal ideas of the events. By reading these columns, we can learn how to support or to criticize the political events. To give you a better idea, last summer I read about recent research conducted by Korea University. The researcher asked students how they increased the ability of criticizing and 65 percent of student answered they learn how to criticize the studies by reading newspaper regularly in the highschool. In this way, reading newspapers will give people new aspect of thinking about events.
In addition, points that I will like to bring to light in arguing my stance lies in the fact that we can read newspapers again and again. We can also keep television shows by recording it. However, it cost a lot of money to record it in video, but keeping newspaper doesn't cost money. Also, television has limit of time. We can only watch news in television in specific time, so if we miss it, it is unable for us to go back and watch it again. In the other hand, we can read news articles whenever we want. A great example of my personal life is two years ago. I was looking for materials to use in my paper. Most news articles were able to find in the library, but videos of television were not able to find. This cleary indicates that newspapers are more useful for learning worldwide events because it can last longer than materials of television.
All things considerd, I firmly believe that the aforementioned arguments adequetely support the position that newspapers are more useful in understanding the events, because they contains many articles with political viewpoints and they are more capable to store. Also they don't have restriction of time. Even though the topic remains open to debate, I believe that for now, we can safely come to the conclusion that newspaper is better than the television. |
