Different people have different opinions about whether TV has broken relationships between friends and relatives. I strongly believe that TV makes the relationships better for numerous reasons. That is because my family gather to watch our favorite shows and talk about the show after watching it.
First of all, getting back from each one's hectic lives, family members piece together to enjoy our favorite shows on TV. These days, it is hard for many families to gather together in one place. Rather, we do something individually in our room and it results in lack of conversation between family members.
However, if they are interested in same TV show, they will spend much more time together. To take personal experience, my family members were hard to talk each other because, at that time, I was absorbed to do computer games and my father spent almost his time in reading newspaper in his room. These days, we all have been interested in the famous TV show "Friends". So, we naturally spend our time together to watch the show. That means TV makes the communication among family much better.
In addition, after watching the show, we talk about daily life of each family member. Conversation between family members is the most important factor for tying the relationship tightly. Throughout talking about our daily lives, we can percieve if he or she has problems and even help them to solve the problems. For instance, when I was young, I did not like to talk with my parents because I thought they always try to teach me. Although I had many problems in that time, I did not talk this to my parents and I sufferd from these. As I grew up, I was noticed that parents are the ones who I can lean on and whenever I have problem, I asked them for help. Thus, conversation takes a big part in the relationship and TV allows us to have this naturally.
In a nut shell, considering the functions shown above, It is easy to say that television is conducive to relationships in many aspects of our lives. |
