Nowadays, as human relationships are getting more complex, the range of people that can possibly influence student has expanded. Especially, some people argue that friends are the one who affect students more, however, from my point of view, I myself strongly believe that it is their teachers who can
furnish more direct help for their students. The first reason for my supporting is that students now became more dependent on their teachers than in the past. Furthermore, the relationship between a teacher and a student has greatly changed in past 10 years.
To start with, as the importance of public education has loomed large, the amount of time that students spend in school got much longer. Therefore, the possibility that their teachers can influence students more than their friends became much more convincing in recent days. The one example that can demonstrate my point is that the number of students in the classroom got greatly decrease than in the past. According to what my parents said, about 30 years ago, there were about 50 students in a each classroom which would make even harder for teachers to put individual
care system. Meanwhile, compare to old days, there is only 30 or 35 students in each classroom. That is to say, it became much simpler for teachers to handle their students. Needless to say, students would automatically get more intention from their teachers in the class than their friends.
The second point that can illustrate my idea is the variation in relationship between a teacher and a student. Although it is still demanding for a student to communicate with their main teachers, compare to
the past generation, there are more opportunities to talk with their teachers or counselers. Suppose that we need ask our friends to give hand for my paperwork and my friend is in busy, students can always go to their propessor for a help. Now, people take granted for this situation. However, in the past, teachers did not allow students to even talk to them because they thought that it is waste of time. As you can preassume, the relationship between a teacher and a student has varied in a tremendous scale. Even though teachers are not as close as their friends, but they are not so far than in the past generation. In this sense, thinking that teachers can affect students more than their friends can be much more convincing today. |
