Contemporary society places a great emphasis on expertise andrequires individuals to be a professional rather than an erudite. Therefore, in some cases advances in respective fields seem to be considered the most important. However, it is also true that a significant advance in any field of study can be made through interface of knowldege and experiences of other fields of study and there are even more various fields derived from an integration of respective majors.
Admittedly, fundamental knowledge can be built up by each field of study and it is the first step of progress of knowledge. In contemporary society of expertise, not any one of us can consider all fields of study. Therefore, individuals should achieve their goals in their own fundamental branch.
Nevertheless, in many cases, the practical uses of knowledge come from other fields of study. The more complex modern societies have become, the more cases there are requiring interface among different fields. For examples, modern medical technology requires knowledge from the fields of biology and chemistry to cure disease. This example shows that one field of study can be further advanced with the help of other fields.
Moreover, a confusion of carious fields of study has made another new field. As generally believed, as societies become more complex, there are a lot of cases resulting from interface of various fields. For example, the automobile engineering department requires knowledge from chemistry to make a car fuel-efficient, works from industrial design to make a beautiful frame. In this respect, there are some branches derived from intergration of various fields of study.
In conclusion, although some basic advancements are made in repective field of study, some significant results are derived when studies of other fields arestimulating and also there are cases in which a new branch is created from integration of various fields. In this respect, i agree withe the statement given above. |
