Those who consider that casual relationships among friends and co-workers encourages to abtain practical knowledge, might say learning from friends and co-workers is better. However, I think it is more desirable to learn from teachers and supervisors.
First, it is a more efficient way to learn in-depth knowledge from tachers and supervisors. This is because they know much better than our collegues do especially in expertise. Besides, they are more specialized and skillful in conveying difficult knowledge to people. As saying goes "Knowing is one thing, teaching is another thing". Even there are people who are higher degree of intelligence among your collegues, you can hardly expect that they deliver you them in an adequate way. In my case, I have improved my GPA since I have had close relationships with professors. They guided me on studying efficiently. I couldn't imagine the improvement of study without professors' condensed but substaintial teaching in a short period of time.
Second, learning from teachers and supervisors is recommanded as far as thorought and devoted learning is concerned. Many people are retinent to be taught from teachers and supervisors because they worry about being scolded. However, scolding by teachers and supervisors solely occurs when you make mistakes or have weak points on a certain field of study. Consequently, their strict teaching methods contribute to help you correct your errors. Contrary to their teaching, you can not expect harsh advices from your collegues, when it comes to learning. It is detrimental for you that your friends and co-workers are reluctant to point our you dullness in learning. This means they will not help you even when you are neglecting rigorous learning. In a sense, in South Korea and Japan, many students want to learn from popular private tuitorers or lecturers who treat their students in a tough way.
In a nutshell, learning from teachers and supervisors is more ideal, from learning faster and more efficently to simulate your learning through thier scolding and advice. |
