Are books more significant than experience? Different people would give different responses to this question. Some people think that books are more important because books show indirectly experience that you have never gone and done. However, when it comes to me, I believe that experience would be best because there will be much more disadvantages than advantages to be brought.
Of course, book is a great source of knowledge. You could experience that you have never done – for example, if you want to travel to South Korea, you are suppose to know the knowledge first before you go. You may try reading a reference book, so you could understand about their nation background. However, all these benefits may seem to be so small when compared with all those disadvantages lead to.
First, life’s valuable lessons are learned from the experience. This is because, you would remember how to meet with problems, you would not suffer badly happens again. Imagine the day that you were a child. You cannot forget the important lesson from your childhood. For example, when I was young, I had a bad habit, but my parents always told me when I did. I could not be happened the bad habit again.
What is more, many skills and knowledge could learn through practical experience. This is because, if you just read a book without practical experience, you could not know in real circumstance what you are supposed to do. This shows good example for you is to drive car. Could you drive without practical experience? The answer may not, because you do not know how to ride a car and even you learned skills that you have not tried before in real situation, so, it is not possible by learning with book.
To sum up, although each person may hold a different position on this issue, in my case, after considering all sides I am for the idea that experiences are more important than books. Without experiences, there is no lesson. |
