The survey mentioned that 88% of high school students agree with the idea that having a time with friends is a better way to learn than be with older people. On any given days, this result can be plugged into many people's lives. The reasons why are most friends are in similar circumstance, and give a chance to learn each other's personality.
To begin with, people are prone to pay attention to the life that is similar with them. By watching the way others figure out a same problem, they learn many things out of it, especially friends are in similar situation. Moreover, people can be encouraged by the friends who are doing their best in same situation. From my personal experience, when I was a senior in high school, I have a college problem. Even though I had a dream college, I felt like I can't get it. So I became a lazy student. However, when I saw my friend who had same GPA, but tried very hard to get into the same college, I was very motivated by her, and learn that no matter what kind of circumstance I face, I need to try my best.
In addition, friends are the ones who spend most time together. As they talk a lot about their lives in normal life, they know the personality of others. While an argument can sometimes be occurred, it is good opportunity to learn a positive side of friends' personality. For instance, I have the best friend who has different personality. Because of the fact that she doesn't agree with me, or vice verse, we often argue. However, the other hand, I learn lots of things from her as I also see her positive characteristics. So I try to mimic her positive side and she also try to imitate my good side.
In conclusion, people can learn more as they see the way friends go through in same circumstance, and try to learn a good side of their character. In this sense, the idea of people who argue that good learning statement is only from older people is not adapted for everyone. |
