Now days, we are survived throughout severe competition, and it is even seen in school. At this circumstance, there are some teachers who only insist giving same grade for group project, which is far away from our radical society. However, I believe that teacher should not give same grade claiming group working.
To begin with, receiving same grade is seen as anachronistic in the modern society. As I mentioned before, none cannot survive without having competition so that school needed to make students prepared. However, by giving same grade, school prevents students from learning essential matter in living -do best they can do- which will lead to fail in surviving competitions. For instance, according to a research conducted by
In addition, receiving different grade is more pointed to fairness. At this point, some people could have argued that receiving same grade is much more reasonable way to evaluate one’s performance since it is completed by all members. Of course group project has done by all members. However, in reality, someone who much? More? care about grade often works more than any other members. It would not be fair to students, who worked harder than any other did, to give same grade to students who namely participated. Hence, teacher should grade regarding students’ participation to make grading fair.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that giving same grade is not suitable to value group working due to unfairness and preparation for future. Although grading system [of? In?upon?] group work has been controversial issue for years, but it doesn’t seems to be solved easily unless if students doesn’t shirk and cooperate well with others.
