Some people asserts that human beings are meant to rule all the creatures in this world. I, too, agree with the opinion but have slightly different views: human beings also have the responsibility to protect all kinds of fauna and flora. Moreover, humans, living in the information and intellectual society, already developed enough land to meet their needs.
To begin with, human beings have the important role to save animals especially on those which are in danger. Because of human’s obsession on developing the earth from the past, we are now having a severe hardships with climate changes which even caused some of species to be extinct. Due to the extinction on such species, the food-chain collapsed, and subsequently, eco-system as well. This eventually returned as to harm the quality of human life. Thus, human beings have not only responsibility but necessity to protect the animals from extinction.
On top of that, human beings already cultivated barren lands sufficiently for their needs. In case of Korea, about 95 percent of lands are artificially developed for usage of human activities. In addition, information and intellectual society where we are living right now does not need much lands compared to the past when the main source of profits are from agriculture and manufacture which entails broad land. Likewise, both the fact that the plentiful lands were developed already and there is no such a necessity to make benefits from lands in this changed society, gives the human beings a spare mind to consider endangered animals to save them.
In a nutshell, living creatures have a significant interactions for they are linked a numerous ways: if one goes wrong, the other follows up. Hence, human beings must preserve animals not to be extinct for their own survival in a long term perspective. Moreover, human beings have lands to save animals because they do not need any more space to meet their needs in this changed society.
