There is an argument about whether it is more advantageous for children to be brought up in the countryside than in a big city. Some people may say that there are more beneficial growing up in the countryside. However, in my opion there are more benefits to be raised up in a big city for three reasons; firstly a big city has a cultural diversity, secondly there is more assets in terms of education, and finally children can meet diverse friends in a big city.
First of all, there is a cultural diversity in a big city. In other words, children can experience diverse cultures. For example, I grow up in a big city which is Seoul and experienced different cultures. Because many travelers from all around world visit to Seoul every year. I also had chance to meet foreigners on the street easily and practice English. Another advantage is that children who live in a big city can taste variety of foods such as chinese, japanese, and even vietnamese foods. However, if I live in the countryside, I could not experience these advantages. Consequently, children who live in a big city have more chances to experience different cultures.
Secondly, children can receive more quality of education in a big city. Namely, usually the government supports a big city finacially. A good example of this is that one of my friends is a elementary school teacher in a countryside. He told me that he was surprised when he was a beginner teacher. Because there were five teachers in his school so that he had to teach other subject areas. He also said that school facilities were too old to use in class. However, a big city has a good school facilities such as brand new gym and equipments. In this regards, children could be educated in a good school environment.
Finally, children can make many friends in a big city. It means children can develop good social skills. For instance, my cousin grou up in a small town which is the countryside. He said there were total five hundred population in his hometown. He also said he only had five other classmates when he was a elementary school student. Besides that, I grow up in a big city and I had more than forty classmates. I know there area both pros and cons. However, I think that children can understand different perspectives if they meet many different friends who are from diverse gackgrounds. Therefore, a big city has more population than the countryside. So, childrren can meet many friends.
In conclusion, I think there are more advantageous for children living in a big city than the countryside as aeen in the examples mentioned above because of cultural diversity, quality of education and chances to meet friends. It is important to show and experience new things in a childhool. So, the big city is the best place to raise children. |
