However, considering that life is a marathon, a long run, rather than a 100 meter sprint, the success of an individual depends more on a persons ability to produce creative ideas rather than his or her inherent looks. People are requred to overcome problems and come up with solutions in order to face the challanges that arises through the life. This requires creativity. Compared to one's creativity, the effect that one's appearance has is usually short term and not vital to one's success.
Life requires it's main actors to break through various hurdles that lie ahead in it's course, and this requires a great amount of creativity. To be more specific it is actually the mind of the person that determines his or her success in life. Not only will a creative being be likely to overcome problems, the chances are greater in that they will also seize the opportunities that lie ahead. An example would be Bill gates, the CEO of Microsoft, and Steve Jobs, the head of Apple. Although they may not excel in their looks, they are individuals who have a creative mind. This creative mind is what enabled them to come up with the idea that the computer will be a commmodity in the near future, and focus on developing them. It is also the creativity that is behind their great marketing skills.
In addition to the utility that creativity possess in dealing with problem solving, the effect that creativity has actually lasts longer than that of one's appearance. This is because people tend to get accustomed to other's appearance, in other words, become indifferent of other's appearance as time passes. Think of when you first get to know someone. I'm probably sure that you will initially judge one by their appearance. However, this is only an initial response. The effect that one's look has will likely fade as time passes. On the other hand, the person's capabilities and creativity will become more and more important as time passes. Considering that a great portion of success is about how other people think of the individual, It becomes pretty definite that creativity, the ability to come up with good ideas, counts more that one's appearance.
To wrap up, the success of life is more depenant on a person's ability to create ideas rather than one's looks. This is because it is creativity that actually comes up with solutions and that their effects do not fade, unlike one's appearances, over time. No wonder there's an old saying; 'Never judge a book by it's cover'.
