Some people say that students should just accumulate their knowledge for the future job in their school. However, I think University is not an occupational school to seek jobs. Rather, taking various classes and meeting diverse people are great benefits from attending University.
First, when it comes to experiencing broad kinds of academic fields, University is the best place for student. If students’ basic purpose attending University is just obtaining of skill for their future job, they are spending too much fortune as the costs. Many of my acquaintances prove this merit of University. For example, one of my friends has changed her major in her graduate school. Since graduate her under, she got a job in a finance area but she found that her ideal aptitude is not that work rather one of her class during her college, educational engineering lead her to her true path. Owing to her various classes from her college, she could find her inherited talent and now is working at an educational official in education department. According to the survey of National Institute of School Departments, over 50% of students are changing their major during their college or after college and 45% of the respondents are saying that they could find their genuine talent from taking various classes in their college.
Also, as far as contact people from different fields are concerned, students can have help at multi classes in University. By knowing many people in various areas’ major, they can receive more multilateral opinions and make me know the way for a good human networking. For instance, while I am taking discussion class of modern religion, I could admit opinions of other atheist and different region with mine. As a person is raised in a Christian family, I used to think always in my narrow range related to Christianity, but due to accommodating of other views, I could grow up in philosophical thinking. In addition, I could learn how to solve or alleviate the oppositions when the opinions are sharply conflict. In this respect, touching many types of individuals are less likely to have preconceived notions and let students have a broad mind.
In conclusion, taking many different t subjects gives students to find their own rout for future job and thinking multiple ways. Once they leave college, it is hard to confront diverse people in scholastic aspect, cultural or social aspect. Therefore, exploring large area of subjects is wise for students. |
