It is often said that it is necessary for college or high school students to be equipped with a wide range of information to keep up with this fast-changing society. Some people might agree with this statement because providing basic knowledge is the primary purpose of school. However, I strongly believe that university and high school should teach offer students special training for two reasons: gaining specific knowledge is more likely to be succeed and providing certain specific training lead to increasing attendance rate.
To begin with, offering career related education provides students with more chances to achieve their goal. This is because of course, general education offers opportunities to find out their real talent or aptitude. However, this is a critical period, at the age 12 on average, after which, it is too late to develop one’s flair. Thus high school and university should focus more on specific training to help their students to attain individual realistic goals. For example, Ji Hwan, my high school friends, was dreaming of becoming the best pitcher in Korea. Since my high school offered only general education, he had to practice pitching after class on his own time. Eventually, he decided to transfer to other school which could provide him with curriculum including sufficient pitching practice hours thus he did not have to worry about lack of pitching practice. He put all of his energy into practicing in that new school, in the end he became the best pitcher in the Korea national base team. If he had remained at the old school, he would have had a hard time being a proficient pitcher player.
In addition, specialized education is able to stimulate student's participation in school.
It is obvious that when students realize the importance of certain class, they try to attend the class. this participation is significant for students because it can prove their industrious behavior which might affect their future job employment. If the school always offer the well- rounded education without teaching useful job related class, students are more likely to feel bored not realizing the need of class resulting in decreasing attendance rate. To demonstrate, according to a study conducted by the Ministry of Education of Korea in 2006, the average attendance rate of the school which activated specialized training class was three times higher than the school which did not.
In brief, in my opinion, all university and high school should provide specific training rather than general education because this positively affect on creating higher chance of success and increasing attendance rate.
