Some people say because environmental
issues are very complex, individual people can do nothing about them on their
own. However, I disagree with that ordinary people have no influence on
environment for two reasons. First, individual people’s efforts can reduce the
green house gases. Second, voters can choose a president concerned about environment
issues.
Most of all, It is
individual who can effort to reduce the greenhouse gases. Environmental
problems are so complex that it is easy to consider it as what is out of hand
of ordinary people’s capacity. Nevertheless, Ordinary people can have influence
on environment by reducing greenhouse gases. A large number of plants are
blamed for discharging of greenhouse gases. Many studies have pointed out that
greenhouse gases set off global warming. Because of global warming, many people
all around world are suffered. Under this circumstance, lots of ordinary people
are trying to reduce the greenhouse gases. For example, many people in the city
shift from car to public transportation on their way to work and back home. In schools
and workplaces, people are trying to use less paper and put can and bottle into
recycle bins. This shows that individual people’s efforts can reduce the greenhouse
gases.
Moreover, people’s votes
can select the government concerned about environment issues. It is government’s
tasks that analyze the problems of environment and find solutions. However, the
government is selected by voting of ordinary people. In the last presidential
election in Korea, echo-environmental candidate was elected. Naturally, he has
tried to live up to the expectations. First, the government set the rule that
restricts a developing of land. It also makes the bus-only rail to promote use
of transportation. Besides, the stream that passes through the capital city was
recovered. All of these policies are efforts to recover environment. In this
sense, people can have influence on policy as voters.
In conclusion, I disagree
that individuals can do nothing about environmental issues for the reasons I mentioned
above all. First, individual’s efforts can reduce the greenhouse gases. Second,
voters can choose a president concerned about environment issues. |
