There are different opinions regarding whether the countryside is a beneficial place for parents to bring up children. It is a widely accepted fact that the countryside, providing clean and healthy environment for children, is the best place for them. Even so, I strongly believe that it is better for parents to make a choice of deciding their residence to be a big city. Even so, I strongly believe that parents should bring their children up in a big city. I will explain my idea by presenting two reasons as follows.
First of all, with a big city providing a lot of academic opportunities, children can receive good education in the city. There have been numerous researches indicating that because the intelligence development is very important during childhood, it is recommended for parents to give children the best academic environments. It seems clear that a big city, having various academic facilities such as libraries, major schools, and various academic courses provided by the government, is the best place for their development. For example, when I was in high school, I participated in a science contest with my friends. With much help from teachers, we could find a lot of sources related to with our theory, ‘the way to filter the contaminated air by using chemical compounds’, from the library. Being one of the major libraries in my country, the library was the best place for us to get the information about our research. As a result, although we could not win the first prize, we got the prize for students who made a creative proposal. If we had lived in the countryside, it would have been hard for us to use various kinds of information.
Second, because there are a lot of health-related facilities, a big city is a convenient place for parents to care for children’s health. It is true that there are few hospitals in the countryside, so it is hard to bring children to hospitals within a short time when they are ill. Meanwhile, with numerous health-related facilities being established in a big city, it takes only a few minutes to go to hospitals on foot. I remember that an announcer made news showing an incident that a child who had got a fatal injury by falling from a cliff died. She added that if he had been brought to the hospital as soon as possible, he would not have been dead. If he had lived in a big city, he would have been rescued quickly, so we would have saved the life of one child.
In conclusion, based on what I have just mentioned, I am convinced that having a residence in a big city is the best choice to bring up children safely and suitably. |
