The reading and the lecturer talk about the same topic about whether sending expatriates is a better choice than hiring employees locally. The reading talks about the postive points of sending expatriates while the lecturer give the negative points of sending expatriates. To support her point, she begins to say with giving an example of a company who stop sending expatriates.
First, sending workers to abroad is more expensive than hiring employeess locally. This happens because workers hired in its country and sended them to abroad might have trouble launguage and culture. This casues them to spend more time than the reading expected. In business part, the more time means more costs. This point contradicts the view of the reading that workers will perform becasue they are already knowledgeable.
Second, she argues that workers in foreign countries do not necessarily loyal to companies. In order to support this point, she says that if workers who are loyal to companies come back for their personal reasons, that would cause more costs than hiring local workers. This denies the reading's opinion that companies will get benefit, because workers are loyal to the companies.
Finally, she says that workers are not satisfied and are sometimes more frustrated than motivated. This results from the fact that workers cannot speak local language. Since language is the most infortant part to cooperate with coworkers, incomplete language might make workers to feel isolated. Morever, workers will feel inconvient becaus they do not have access to some products that they can use in their home countries and they have trouble finding a good school for their children. Therefore the lecutrer believe that sending expatriates have more costs than benefits to both workers and companies.
