It is often said that zoo is harmful for animals because they have to be confined in artificail artificial envronment. I belive, even though the zoo deprives the wildness from animals, it has to keep operating in modern society for the following two reasons: securing the spiece diversity, and infroming informing people to the importance of coexsitence coexistence of animail animals and human.
To begin with, zoos can secure the diversity of animal spieces by ivestigating investigating and carring animails animals, especially those in the danger of extinction. There are people calling the zoos, a Noa's boat, for rare animals animalls, because zoos the zoo not only shows animalls animals to visitors, but also act is used as a labortory laboratory for researching and explore various animals which can not survive endangered in current environment. This is due to the fact that the pollution in mordern society makes many animals be endangered. Thus, they need specaial special attention and care for keeping their life and reproducing, and the zoos play a pivital vital role in that. An independent documentary director, Youn Whang, for instance, has been insisting the importance of the zoos to protect the animals in danger because of the inappropriate circumstances caused by rural development and massive deforestation in today's society.
Next, the zoos provide the opportunities of humans to connect to with animals, and recognize the importance of nature and coexistence with animals. Now, many people have usually fogotten the fuctions of other creatures on earth because of their busy and hectic schedule. We humans are easy to only focus on civilized human life. Neverthless, it is important to realize that our their lives are related to the whole nature including wild animals.Unfortunately, humans can not have these chances, though. While people visit zoos, they can remind the importance of animals. Acccording to a survery conducted by the Ministry of Environment of Korea in 2007, biologists have arugued that the experience of visiting zoos has a positive effect on the education for children to perceive the importance of protecting animals. This result shows that zoos play a important role in imform informing poeple the affirmative perspectives towards environment protection.
Today, governments around the world spend a large amount of money developing zoological parks. I fullt support this because zoos have positive influences on both humans and animals. That is, they not only educate people about animals, but also protect endangered species.
First, zoos play a significant role in providing people with a wide variety of educational opportunities. This results in great part because zoos allow people, especially children of all ages, to have the invaluable opportunity to gain active hands-on experience by closely observing diverse animal species, such as reptiles, birds, fish, and mammals. In my own experience, when I was in fifth grade, I visited the Seoul Children's Zoo. While visiting the zoological park, I was exposed to the fascinating world of wildlife by actually watching the animals up close, feeding and touching them, and attentively listening to their sounds. In this way, visiting zoos unquestionably bradens visitors' knowledge and understanding of the animals and their habitats. If I had not gone to the zoo, I would have had difficulty in understanding the animal kingdom in my biology classes in high school.
Furthermore, zoos save and protect endangered species. That is, zoos provide animals with optimal conditions for survival, including naturalistic habitats, nutritious diets, and medical treatment. Therefore, animals that are rapidly vanishing from the wild can be protected in zoos. The best example of this is the tiger in Korea. As the number of tigers has dramatically decreased because of poaching and habitat destruction, they are on the verge of extinction in Korea. Fortunately, zoos are combining efforts to save the tigers and increase their population by hiring nutritionists, zoologists, and veterinarians to keep the animals healthy and encourage them to breed.
As mentioned above, I have no doubt that zoos are very beneficial to society. The reason is that zoos provide people with educational experiences, and animals with safe homes. On the whole, I believe that zoos can open doors for people to understand and love animals on a deeper level.
