Most people know that learning is a crucial factor that they have to continue throughout their entire life. As a result, most people agree that university students have to take as many subjects as they can because knowledge in various are will help in the future. However, I strongly believe that university students should not take many classes on different area because it is not only inefficient in time, but it also makes them to lost their focus on major study.
To begin with, when students get into universities, there are some courses that they need to finish until their graduation which is not related to any of students' major. I strongly believe this is a waste of time for students. The rationale behind this is that those non-related course on students major would not help students in long term. For example, a science student would not like to take any art class during his studies unless the student is really interested in art. It is largely because that the student knows it will not be required for his/her future. In that case, students will only be wasting their time to study in their major courses.
Secondly, studying in various areas will result student to lost their focus on major study. What I mean is when students take various subjects, it is possible for those students to lose their interest in major and fall for the other studies. For instance, one of my cousines got into university as a math student. Although he have been studying there for eight years long, he is still second year student because he have changed his major for three times. After taking art class, he suddenly fell for art so he changed his major. Not only that, after taking environment class which was last year, he is now studying about architecture. I know at the end he chose something that includes both in math and science, this was a quite problametic situation for his parents. Since the tuition fee costs a lot.
To sum up, taking numerous subjects in university would not benefit on students since it would result lack of time to study on their major as well as losing their interest on their major. Therefore, I firmly believe that students should take courses related on their major. In fact, students already had a taste in various subjects throughout their high school years.
