Last week, a wealthy man killed his brother in order to get all the valuable land from his father. Although he is already extremely well-off, he wanted more. Therefore, I suppose people may not be always gratified with what they have. Our materialistic may reflect the fact that people are not satisfied with what they have. Furthermore, it might be human nature to want something new.
To begin with, society might be a direct reflection of the fact that people are not satisfied with what they have got. For example, the high divorce rates in some countries. In fact, in my country, Korea, divorce rates are high ,one in three people fail to continue their first marriage. This high divorce rates clearly suggest that some people may not be gratified with their first spouse and want someone else. Furthermore, today's society is highly materialistic that people want money more and more in order to purchase materials. For example, one of the richest actors but well-known for being frugal in Korea, Ko, keep investing his money and expanding his own business. It seems like he is not satisfied what they have.
Furthermore, it may be human nature to want something more and more. There is an old proverb "The grass is always greener on the other side." There are also many fairy tales about rich but dissatisfied characters who always seek more possessions. Moreover, as times goes by, as people change, the standard of satisfaction also changes. Especially, in this fast-paced world, everything changes so rapidly. Therefore, people want something different every time the trend becomes different.
In this society, numerous crimes may be caused due to the sense of dissatisfaction of individuals. I think, as long as human race exists, people might not be satisfied with what they have. Therefore, I believe people might not never be satisfied with their own possessions. |
