For many years, there has been a big controversy about studying together between educators. Some say that studying alone is the most excessive way, and the others say that studying as a group can maximize the outcome. However, my preference is to study alone. It is easier to concentrate, and I don’t have to care about anyone while I’m studying alone.
Above all, it is definitely lot easier to concentrate when you are alone. When many people are around you, it is very likely to talk, and if you start to talk with others, you can never concentrate on your task. In Korea, there is a famous quote that says: “If there are many sailors in a ship, the ship goes to mountain.” This quote tells us how ineffective studying in group is. If many people are studying together, it is very easy to go off-topic, which is similar to a ship going to a mountain. If you study alone, there is no such worry. It would be a little boring, but the fundamental objective of studying is not having fun. It is to prepare for a test, or to gain some knowledge. In this sense, studying alone is a better method than studying together because you don’t have to worry about going off-topic and can concentrate while you are studying alone.
On top of that, you have to worry about other people while you are studying if you study together. It seems to be nothing, but sometimes in could get very frustrating. For example, you and your friends are studying phonics. However, there is a friend who doesn’t know alphabets. What should you and your friends do? It takes too much time to teach him alphabets. But it is also very hard to heartlessly ditch him since he is a friend. Now the situation goes to Andromeda. When you study alone, you don’t have to worry about anyone but yourself. This is one reason why you should study by yourself.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that studying alone is better than studying together. You don’t have to worry about going off topic, and you only have to care about yourself.
