There are both advantages and disadvantages between studying alone and in groups. Studying alone helps concentration without annoyed friends and it can save time to spend in gathering group members. On the other hand, studying in groups can lead students to accomplish what they decided to do and make their life patterns regular. Despite the fact that both two different ways to study are helpful, I prefer studying in groups to studying alone.
Studying alone is efficient to students with strong self-willingness. But, I know that I cannot able to study without others' pressure since I am not such a diligent person. If I had to study alone all day, definitely I would not study at all! For instance, I made a decision to study alone at the library near my house regardless of friends or families in order to get a good scores on my mid-term exams in the last year. However, I found it difficult for me to go to the library because I felt lazy and annoyed. Moreover, there are many temptations in the house. Spending too much time to watch television or surfing on the Internet was the most difficult obstacles to me. After that experience, I have come to the conclusion that I don't have strong willingness and I need some pressures to force me to study with other students.
Not only that, but studying in groups encourages each other not to waste time. They can force me to study with penalties. If I didn't have to pay a penalty, I would have not studied hard. In addition, when I was frustrated or disappointed about scores I got, study group members helped me to get out of a slump. We can share ideas or thoughts and it improves my ability. Since students in such groups try to study the same subjects for their own goals, they might feel sympathy between them and comfort each other. Also, other students can advise me to try different ways to study, refreshing my point of view.
Despite the fact that studying alone has its own benefits, I strongly believe that studying in groups is much more efficient way for me to study because study groups make me not to have lazy mind. More importantly, Other students who are studying hard for their own dreams give me an inspiration and it promote me to strive for myself. Therefore, I prefer to study in groups with friends or others rather than alone. |
