When entering a university, students have to decide whether staying in university housing or living in off-campus housing. I believe that living in campus housing offers benefits that off-campus housing cannot provide. University dormitories may provide great convenience and camaraderie. Furthermore, university housing may help students to build social relationships.
To begin with, staying at university housing might be more convenient for students since it may provide easier access to campus facilities, for example libraries or study centers. Furthermore, it might be not difficult to get academic help from professional people such as professors or study groups because they are mostly around campus. Most college students need extra help to comprehend the materials thoroughly that they learn from classes. However, if students do not have easy access to help because they live out of campus, students might fall behind.
Furthermore, living on campus might help students to socialize better because fellow students live in the same building; thus, it is possible for them to socialize anytime they want. In that way, students could develop deeper and faithful relationships with their housemates. Moreover, relationships that were created while living together tend to last longer. From my personal experience, I stayed in a dormitory. At first, I felt strange by the fact that I am spending time with other students, and I was worried about my privacy being invaded. However, unlike my concerns, my roommate and I helped each other whenever we had problems such as personal problems or school problems. After spending my time with my roommate, I could develop a deep relationship with her. Even few years have passed now , my roommate and I are still best friends.
Staying in campus housing provide a number of advantages ranging from offering academic help to offering social relationships. Therefore, I believe students should stay in university dormitories. Students will make good memories while staying with their housemates as I made nice memories in a dormitory. |
