As many people are trying to learn and research about a foreign country to know its culture, there are many ways to approach to learn. Some people will argue that the best way is to read newspapers and magazines to research about a foreign country. However, from my viewpoint, reading newspapers and magazines for learning it isn't beneficial for several reasons.
To begin with, newspapers and magazines could be biased because the articles from them are written by people. As people have their individual opinions and thoughts, they could include own statements about a foreign country in newspapers and magazines. For example, when my friend Jiki prepared to travel the United States for studying their culture, he read magazines. He learned that American in the United States is very rude and violent in magazines. However, he realized that it was incorrect information when he met them. He felt comfort because of their kindness. From this experience, newspapers and magazines sometimes show incorrect knowledge to people.
On top of that, the Internet is better way to learn a foreign nation rather than newspapers and magazines. That's because the Internet connect people amazingly through the network. People can use e-mail or messenger to condensate; the Internet will help to organize different foreign people. Videos can be used as well. For instance, there was my younger sister who used the Internet very often. She used it for learning foreign nations. Videos of the foreign countries and conversation with abroad people help her to understand them well.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the best way to learn about a foreign country isn't newspapers and magazines. People can't misunderstand with incorrect knowledge which from personal opinion. In addition, they can use the Internet which is very popular and fast. This substitution will affect people to communicate about different countries and cultures. |
