It is often said that it is possible for people can work at the same company for all their life. However I strongly believe this notion is unrealistic for the following reasons. First, in order to survive competitive circumstance, company should make a decision to lay off some employee. Moreover, people have a temptation to move a better workplace.
To begin with, reinforcing human resource is crucial for company to sustain their competition. In order for company to move upward, they have to recruit a new powerful person and lay off some people whose presences are threatening to company. To illustrate this, I give some common facts that occurring in real world. When companies are faced with deadly difficulty situation such as they cannot repay their debt, they should take a step to company restructuring process. And most first step of restructuring process is how many people they should lay off. This illustrates well how difficult it is for people working at one company for their entire life.
In addition, people are inclined to move "a better place". A better place means that people want to move some positions where company gives more pay or people can do their potential ability more. For example, let's think about finance field. In this job field, the headhunters are very busy. This is because many bankers move their company for pursuing their better purpose. In this field, the human power plays a pivotal role for company to survive. The recent research announced that the average people's work-life at one company of finance field is less than 5 year's. In this regard, the arguments that people work at the same company for their entire life are very absurd.
In conclusion, I strongly support the idea that it is unrealistic for people to work at the same company for all their life. This is because company does not hesitate to lay off their employee in order to achieve their competition. Moreover, people are more likely to leave their one company for looking for better conditions.
