There are different opinions regarding whether if people do not give up their goals, they can make achievements, regardless of what goals they want to accomplish. It is a widely accepted fact that only a person who makes ceaseless efforts can make an achievement. Even so, I strongly believe that there are conditions that people have to give up their goals. I will explain my ideas by presenting two reasons as follows.
First of all, people have to give up goals that are hardly possible to accomplish. This is because if they keep trying to achieve such goals, not only will they just waste their precious time and money, but also other people such as their friends and family suffer from their efforts. There are some people who want to achieve goals that seem impossible to achieve. They spend a lot of times and much money on making efforts toward them. Even though all people already know that those are impossible to achieve, they, being engrossed in their goals, do not give up them. For example, an announcer reported people who were addicted to gambling deeply believing that they would have got much more money than they had lost if they had not given up it. It was said that not caring for their family, they wasted their whole fortune. If they had figured out that there are few people who obtain money through gambling and given up their goals, they could have used money into better goals and got to succeed.
Second, since today’s society is rapidly changing in many aspects, people should be able to change their goals to more suitable ones. With various kinds of new technology being invented by scientists, there is a tendency that some businesses, which were considered to have few possibilities to thrive before, suddenly start to thrive in our society. If people do not give up goals that will be meaningless even if those are achieved, it is difficult for them to succeed. For example, my friend, who majored in business administration, asked his father to sell his stock, the value of which he thought to decrease someday. He supposed that real estate-related businesses would thrive, and asserted that it was the time to invest money in them. However, saying that he would prove that his choice was right, his father refused his proposal. Surprisingly, his supposition became true, and as a result, his father regretted not accepting his son’s proposal. If he had accepted the proposal and made right decisions, his fortune would have increased.
In conclusion, based on what I have just mentioned, I am convinced that people can benefit when they are able to give up and change their goals. |
