There is an ongoing debate over whether high school students should be ensure to choose subjects that they liked to take or not. Some people might suggest that studying variety of classes could help to have common knowledge. On the contrary, I strongly believe that student must be selected classes that they wanted to study. The fundamental reason behind this is that taking all classes are waste of time. Moreover, selecting classes are motivated students to study.
First of all, allowance of choosing subjects is save time. This is largely because students can study courses that they want to major in college or job careers, such as students who wanted to be a biologist only study biology, economist only study economy and calculus, sociologist only study sociology and human relationship. This will help students could save their time in college when they profoundly study in these subjects. From my experience, ever since I was little, I wanted to be an economist. During my high school year, I was focus on studying A, P Macro and Micro Economy, A.P calculus and Statistic which are related with economy major. After I attend university, I did not have to take any of these classes that I took during high school year. As a result, I could take advance classes and easily understand the lecture from the professor. I could save massive time on study, since other students had hard time to study these subjects. If I had not had chance to select my own classes during high school year, I would have spent enormous time to study.
Finally, students in elective classes show greater interest and stimulated to study. An important reason behind this is that school boys and girls are pretend to study harder when subjects comes to interesting to them. Accordingly, youth could perform better on their test because students can focus more on their works and enjoying their studying. For example, my friend, Hana, had hard time to adjust school environment which force her to take all classes. She wanted to be writer and only showed her interest in creativity writing, English and Composition class. From last of classes, math, science and history, she failed. After a freshmen year, she attended home school. When I became senior, I saw her on the newspaper that she got first prize from national poem contest. On top it, she admit a college with full scholarship. If she had stayed in high school and mandatory to study all subjects, I have no doubt that she would have not admitted any colleges or not graduated from high school.
In conclusion, high students have chance to select classes that they wanted to study because of saving time and better performance. |
