University students should take classes in many different subjects.
Attending a college is an invaluable opportunity for students to explore their interests. The a variey of courses available allows students to learn a broad range of knowledge and helps them select the right major. Although there is a statement that students should specialize a certain subject that they are major in, I firmly believe that college students have to take various courses. This is because a wide range of knowledge and experience are absolutely helpful later on, also by taking various courses, students can meet many people who have different personalities, perspectives and views toward the world.
To begin with, one of priceless advantages from taking courses of different area is that students can obtain lifetime experience. While knowledge which is acquired by classes is much likely to be forgotten, practical skills that are required to catch up with unfamiliar subject of classes are less likely to be erased. From my personal experience, I took a speech class which were was not involved in my major course and thought that I was not good at speech. Even though my grades were not quite good, but I had an invaluable chance to speak in front of other people. After graduation, when interviewing, I realized that experiences that I practiced my speech in college was were definitely helpful. In other words, skills are learned from college are attributed to gaining my job.
On top of that, taking courses in different fields provides students significant opportunities to meet many people. Also, it makes students more tolerant of various kinds of people and their opinions. For example, I took a class which mainly requires required a team-work project in college. My team was composed of 4 people from different fields, and each person has its own characteristic. When we first took on the project, it is quite hard to gather different opinions and makes one decision, however, we slowly realized that new perspectives from each other was were definitely important sourse course of our members' development. From now on, this experience helps me to get along with other people well and to accept new views on certain subject without prejudice.
To sum up, taking a wide range of courses develops students' various skills that are needed for long lifetime, and provides invaluable chances to approach different person who is not same with me. I firmly believe that this the two advantages are definetely the most important in one's life.
